We are Family

Saw Charlotte's Web last night, a most loved story of mine since I was a little girl, and I have to give big kudos to the studio because it was perfect! I kept thinking to myself, "Who is the genius who actually made a spider look cute and cuddly?!" Seriously, you wanted take Charlotte home with you and snuggle up next to her. I think the world may just give spiders some respect after this. Well, maybe.

Any who, we had a little cash, so we went on a family date. Yes, we actually went to eat and to a movie, all three of us. I am glad to report that there was no blood shed (or even tears!). In fact, we had an awesome time! I just felt so blessed as I sat in Chick-Fil-A and watched my husband and son laughing together and sharing waffle fries (as I munched on a side salad ;) I wished at that moment that I could have that moment photographed.

We don't get that much, and by that I mean just pure contentment, relaxation, joy. We're all so busy, all the time. It was nice. It got me thinking that that is what a vacation is supposed to be, and that we ought to take one of those this year. So, there's a goal for our family - to take a real vacation this year, even if it's only a weekend. One of our family goals (notice I didn't say resolution, because that's just asking for trouble!) is to spend more relaxation time together as a family. It's so easy to just keep the little wild person we live with (aka our 2 year old, Jonah) confined to the apartment, where we can watch him like hawks and avoid any potential public melt-downs (which are horrifying and a little funny at the same time) But where's the livin' in that?! So I guess that means Jason and I will have to come to a compromise with little man and find something to do that will suit all three of us. Sounds impossible right? Not so much last night . . . we successfully has a nice meal out (Chick-Fil-A - inexpensive too!) and enjoyed a movie (yes the WHOLE movie!) "Charlotte's Web", and we all had a great time! Did you know that newer theaters have kid seats to put in the theater seats so little ones don't get swallowed whole by the flip-up chairs?! I am easily impressed, I know.

Anyway, fun time. Now it's Saturday, and Jason is at work. Which means I am cleaning house and running errands. That is, after I watch at least two episodes of The Office - Season 2. We got it on sale with one of my Christmas gift cards! It rocks!

So I'm off to plop in front of the tube for an hour before the cleaning ceremonies begin. Bye!
